Kashmir: Aerial shots of Kashmiri flatlands.

Aerial shots - taken from on high - have had a history of magic, and of the ascent to heaven'. In an unusual sequence that is also perhaps one of Mani Kaul's most political of cinematic moments, a young Kashmiri boy bends down to pick up a flower, and then 'disappears'. The camera tilts up, and as though in a spiritual 'release, cuts into a long aerial shot of a Kashmir plain. The film used helicopters extensively, with primitive foam bedding used to cushion the camera.
