Summary: The first film in Karbi, a north-eastern dialect, traces the gradual politicisation of a native schoolteacher, Sarthe Ronghang, who moves beyond a romantic and nostalgic sense of his land into an awareness of the region’s real contemporary problems. The director is a graduate of the Konrad Wolf Institute (Potsdam), a documentarist and former assistant to Bhabendranath Saikia (Agnisnan, 1985).
