Summary: 'Happy Birthday Loki' tells the story of a 40-year-old housemaid who was abducted from her village in Orissa as a child and sold. Though her life is far from perfect, she does live a somewhat fulfilling one today. She eats more than a growing boy, prefers to use the stairs and is addicted to television. For someone with a horrifying past (she has also lost her ability to speak coherently) she is a symbol of courage and hope for everyone. If we talk about human rights, Loki has had no idea about what she's entitled to and if we talk about women's rights, she has had all of hers infringed. There are thousands of 'Lokies' who live in Mumbai city. They've been sold, bought, traded, raped, forced to work, beaten, burnt and sometimes, killed.
