Summary: Harvest of Grief chronicles the agricultural crisis affecting farmers in Punjab, India, which is causing them to commit suicide. The suicides result from indebtedness spurred by the demands of globalization. The victims' families, burdened with mounting debt, are left without any means of support. In addition to the stories of seven families, the film provides perspectives from agricultural experts, bankers, government officials, and activists. This investigative documentary was created in the hope that public opinion will force policy makers and planners to change their agricultural policies which are destroying the small farmers.
