Summary: The trend of real life crime stories being made into commercial masala, has been a way of Malayalam cinema from the days of Sathyan- Ragini starrer Bharaya. Since then hundreds of real life murder stories have been adapted on screen. The latest is Kanichukulangarayil CBI, based on the brutal murder in Kanichukulangara after two Chit fund owners decide to take on their confidante-turned-foe in a brutal way. The references and incidents are quite obvious and the intention of those behind the film is to cash in on controversy as well. Ajith (Sai Kumar) and Suresh (Meghanadan) have a rag to riches tale to tell as their ?Anamala group? grows to amazing heights. The two are brash and they never hesitate to do anything for their own benefit. But they panic when Ratheesh (Sadique), their manager who in fact is the brain behind the group's rise along with their legal advisor Rahim (Kollam Tulasi) decide to quit and open a new Chit fund. Ratheesh and his sister are killed in a freak accident when a speeding lorry hits their vehicle. Cop James George (Suresh Krishna) and later, a CBI officer Arjun (Manoj K Jayan) are appointed to probe the case.
