Summary: A casket containing the body of a deceased construction worker, Rafeeq (Musthafa), is flown from Dubai to the Calicut International Airport in Kozhikode, then transported by ambulance to its destination. While en route, the ambulance is ambushed by criminals hired by Muhammed Unni (Siddique) to retrieve the 100 kilograms (220 lb) of gold that he and his co-smugglers have hidden in the casket. When they open the casket, however, the gold is missing. Around the same time, Jayanthi (Andrea Jeremiah) arrives in Kozhikode from Mumbai in search of her missing husband, Ramesh (Ashvin A. Mathew), a customs officer who has been linked to the gold smuggling and often disappears from home for various reasons. Jayanthi arranges for a taxi to drive her to the place where Ramesh has been staying, or to wherever the search leads. The driver, Raju (Mohanlal), seems equally concerned over the circumstances surrounding Ramesh's disappearance, and earns her trust. Unaware of the smugglers' plot to kidnap Jayanthi, both Raju and Jayanthi become the targets of a surprise attack that renders Jayanthi unconscious. Raju carries a concealed handgun and manages to foil the kidnapping by shooting at the assailants. He transports the unconscious Jayanthi to a safe place. When Jayanthi awakens, she finds herself surrounded by strangers. She then discovers that Raju is not just a taxi driver, but part of an investigation to find Ramesh and the missing gold. Jayanthi stays with one of her close friends while Raju continues the investigation. The trail leads him to the home of Ramesh's parents where he has been hiding under the protection of his mother (KPAC Lalitha), who is also aware of the smuggling. Raju takes Ramesh into custody along with others who are involved in the crime. It is eventually revealed that co-smuggler Azhagar Perumaal (Ajmal) has deceived Unni and taken the gold for himself. After Raju and his team retrieve the gold, they are detained by local police. Raju identifies himself and his team as foreign intelligence officers with the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of India and discloses his real name as Rajeev Sathyamoorthy. The police release them so they can complete their investigation. Near the end of the film, it is revealed that Raju and his team are actually smugglers.
