Summary: The first Kannada colour movie is a costume spectacle about the sculptor Jakanachari (K. Kumar/Nageshwara Rao) who is apparently responsible for the impressive 12th C. temple sculptures of Belur and Halebid during the reign of the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana, now a major Karnataka tourist attraction. The sculptor is shown to be inspired by his love for Manjari (Saroja Devi), who is seperated from him by a political conspiracy. Later, Jakanachari has a contest with a young sculptor unaware that the youth is his own son. Kalyana Kumar’s best-known screen role.
