Summary: A film is about Goa's liberation from the Portuguese. The Portuguese conquest became total in 1510 - the first European power to occupy Indian Territory. The French and the British came to the Indian shores much later. Goa had to fight a protracted and fierce battle against the Portuguese colonialists under the leadership of Triastao de Branganza Cunha, especially after Gandhi emerged on the Indian political scene. In spite of Goa being a police state, on June 18, 1946 Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia defied the dictatorship and made an appeal that Goa should join the Indian mainstream. This was realised on December 19, 1961 when Goa was liberated from the Portuguese clutches. It became part of India.
