Summary: First major Kannada film, released before though made after Bhakta Dhruva (1734). Based on a play by R. Nagendra Rao and Subbaiah Naidu's theatre group, the first of many the duo translated to the screen, it is a Ramayana mythological told from the viewpoint of Sulochana, daughter-in-law of the villain Ravana. Her husband Indrajit, who wounds Lakshman, is eventually killed by Rama, leaving her a widow. According to M.V. Ramakrishnaiah (1992), the film was made in a Kolhapur studio with 2000 extras and spectacular war sequences were shot with two cameras.
