Summary: 'Dancing Pandavs' is a first time record of folk-practices and beliefs of people living in the Himalayan states of Garhwal Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh in India, relating to the famous Indian epic, the 'Mahabharata'. Traveling and shooting in difficult Himalayan terrain, often without roads in the six winter months of 2011-12 this film attempts to tell the singular story of the Himalayan people. A story that brings together the inner meanings of their possessed dancing, their folk-theater, their ancient form of enchanting music on drums and song, their agnostic war-games and their ancient architectural ruins and heritage, spread almost over a 1000 kms. The film tell its story in the words of the participating people speaking in many the Himalayan languages, with subtitles in English.
