Summary: Impersonation is the way of life for the Behrupiya. This word refers to a community of artists that imitates and dresses like Gods, animals and various characters, which are often inspired by popular mythology, to entertain the masses on street. Once popular and widespread, this age old traditional Indian performing art, is now struggling to find its feet in the modern era of entertainment. Usually passed on through generations and with only a few hundred remaining, perhaps a new eye can resurrect their art.
