Mumbai is fondly called the "City of Dreams" even though it is the city that never sleeps. This is the place where thousands flock to in search of life-changing opportunities. In our short film "The Essence of Mumbai" we have tried to capture the true colors and essence of Mumbai through the eyes of the common man as he goes about his daily life. As we all know, Mumbai is a place of never-ending opportunities. Each and every soul here is busy doing something or other to make a living, whether it's a taxi / rickshaw driver, a cotton candy seller, or a street urchin trying to do whatever necessary to survive. Despite the responsibilities of survival and thousands of other tensions in their minds you will always find a smile on the faces of the common people of Mumbai. The remarkable architecture of Mumbai also adds to the beauty of the city. The Gateway of India, the majestic Taj Hotel are just a few sites that add beauty, culture and color to the beautiful canvas of this Maharastrian city. Mumbai is a place of harmony where people of all religions and backgrounds share the oneness of brotherhood. Whether you go to Siddhivinayak Temple, Haji Ali Dargah, Mount Mary Church you will find a colorful bouquet of people consisting of different religions united in prayer. The skyline of Mumbai is colored in beautiful hues year round as the city celebrates festivals like Diwali, Eid, Holi, Ganpati and Baisakhi together. This is what makes Mumbai a place of brotherhood, humanity, and unity. Mumbai is home to thousands and thousands of people and these people all come from different walks of life. Regardless of whether it's a person spending his nights on the streets or a wealthy businessman sleeping in a five star hotel, the love they posses in their hearts for Mumbai only grows by the second. The welcoming nature of this land and the never dying spirit of its people is what gives Mumbai its true colors...its true essence.
