Summary: Period tragedy in Rajput costume featuring Mahamaya, princess of Gandhara (Kannamba) and Vikram (P.U. Chinnappa), prince of a neighbouring kingdom, both students of the same teacher. Mahamaya innocently garlands Vikram’s sword unaware of the sexual/political significance of the act. Both get married to other partners, but when they meet again Vikram reminds her of the garland, insists that she give herself to him and abducts her. Although she escapes, she is disowned by her husband, whereupon she kills her child and then herself to prove her chastity. The film is dominated by Kannamba and by its large sets. The Krishnan- Mathuram comedy duo provides light relief.
