Summary: The directorial debut of K. Asif, best known for his Mughal-e-Azam (1960), is a big-budget Amrohi drama set in a Muslim joint family. Safdar loses his inheritance through his sister-in-law’s machinations but he still has to honour his promise to complete the building of a mosque started by his father. His future son-in-law Salim goes to Turkey to fight in the Balkan wars, where a dancer corrupts him, so the responsibility of building the mosque falls on Safdar’s orphaned daughter who has to choose between that responsibility and her freedom.
