Summary: Tapashi, without her own consent, gets married to Bulu, heir to a big Zaamindar of the village. But her mother does not accept the marriage and brings Tapashi back home. The memory of the marriage stays with Tapashi, repressed in her mind. She travels to the hills where she meets and falls in love with Kiriti, a handsome rich young man. But her brother constantly reminds her that she is already married. Unable to deal with her repressed thoughts of child marriage and the dilemma of choosing Kiriti, she turns to her grandmother for advice and solace. Her grandmother draws similarities with the incident of "Agni Pareeksha" of Sita in the epic Ramayana and consoles her stating, she too can overcome all the hurdles and pass the test just like Sita did. Tapashi, with new found determination returns to her village to find Bulu but instead sees Kiriti in front of her. Kiriti reveals that he is Bulu himself, her long lost love.
