Summary: Continuing in the vein of his
Taxi Driver (1954) image, Anand plays the part of Ashok, a pavement-dweller and pickpocket who falls in with a gang whose hideout is house no. 44. The gang’s pretty stooge Nimmo (Kartik) becomes his beloved and, to escape their life of crime, Ashok turns informer. Chased by the gang boss’s henchmen and a mysterious figure called Captain, Ashok has to face a kangaroo court at the house but he eventually fights his way to freedom.
