Major Vijaya mythological following on from Reddy’s hit fantasy, Patala Bhairavi (1951). Taken from the Mahabharata, it tells the legend of Abhimanyu’s (Nageshwara Rao/ Gemini Ganesh) marriage to Sasirekha (Vatsala in the Tamil version) (Savitri), assisted by Bhima’s son Ghatotkacha (Ranga Rao) and opposed by the wily Shakuni (Anjaneyulu/ Nambiar) who wants Sasirekha to marry one of the Kauravas. The film featured NTR in his first role as the Hindu god Krishna and includes an early version of one of Indian cinema’s favourite special effects: magic arrows spewing fire and water. One of the musical highlights is the wedding feast number Vivaha bhojanam. The Tamil version was credited to Chakrapani’s direction, which had a slightly different cast, and some compositions by Saluri Rajeshwara Rao. In Mayabazar, Abhimanyudu gifts Priyadarshini to Shashirekha. Priyadarshini is a laptop like device along with video call. Mayabazar was widely regarded as a movie which conceptualized video calling and laptop decades before they emerge into commercial markets to wide spread public.
This scene is a screenplay device which helps screenwriter to tell the basic nature of Major characters from Yadava side - Shasirekha, Balaramudu, Revathi and Krishnudu. Movie carved characters from the epic Mahabharatha - Krishna, Balarama, Revathi, Rukmini, etc., according to the need of the script and taste & sensibilities of Telugu people. This movie defines what are those aspects they took into consideration. In Priyadarshini, Balaramudu sees Duryodhanudu as his favourite person and when others ask why - he explains that he is my favourite student, but movie simply ignores to even acknowledge the fact that Bheema is also equally lovable student to Balarama. Revathi character which is just not so evident in Mahabharatham, carved into a typical greedy woman and so she sees her favourite - money, wealth, but condemns that she likes money. Here her character was portrayed very well. Finally, Krishnudu seeing Shakuni as his fav. person is like a master stroke. One can say many meaning to it, including - Jagannataka Sutradharitvam

"ade mana takshana kartavyam" (Rough translation: That's our current task) is a famous dialogue that is repeated by Dusshashanudu character of the film. This is one of the bunch of dialogues that were become part of Telugu culture and language there after.

In this scene Dushta Chatushtayam, the evil four - Duryodhanudu, Dusshashanudu, Shakuni and Karnudu discuss about dishonour happened to Duryodhanudu during Rajasooya Yagam and decides to win all pandavas belongings along with themselves and Droupadi in Dyutam or a variant of gambling. This eventually results to Droupadi Vastrapaharanam which will not be seen but known in dialogues in coming scenes. Mayabazar story and Mahabharatham epic have a different relation on each other. Any mainstream Mahabharatha epic doesn't have any story or line about Shashirekha Prinayam. But Mayabazar or Shashirekha parinayam is woven mostly around Mahabharatham epic characters. Even inciting incident that resulted in first plot point of Mayabazar was infamous Major incident in Mahabharatham epic, i.e., Droupadi Vastrapaharanam. But it was not shown in movie nor any of the pandavas were shown in movie, just these incidents were referred and discussed widely in movie to establish unseen scenes as important screenplay devices. Even though the dialogues referred to those Mahabharatham incidents were clear and informative about what happened and how, screen writers mainly depended on wide knowledge about epic in target audience.
This sequence ends with a symbolic augury (Apashakunam) - shaking of earth, foxes' howl, etc., for upcoming ill deeds and their future results.This is part of the beliefs of Telugu people which was represented in movie.

Like with many other Mayabazar classical hit songs' Pallavis (thematic lines)- Choopulu Kalisina Shubhavela also been adopted as a film title. Film directer Jandhyala who adopted other Mayabazar song pallavis as titles named his 1988 Telugu Romantic comedy as "Choopulu Kalisina Shubhavela". Movie titles were shown with Mayabazar song as background and another comic version of the song created and used in the movie, serves as tribute to this legendary song
