Summary: Melodrama about deaf-mute people. Murthy’s (Rajkumar) wife (Kalpana) dies in childbirth, and when his son becomes deaf and mute, Murthy marries a deaf-mute (Harini), learns to lip-read and starts a school for the handicapped. When his son dies, his wife joins him in running the school. Eventually, the wife delivers a normal baby. The debut of Kannada cinema’s first self-proclaimed successor to Satyajit Ray, the hit film established Kalpana as a Kannada star.
