Summary: Based on Annabhau Sathe's novel 'Chikhalatil Kamal' which depicts the evil and injustices on the religious custom of giving away a daughter to a godhead. These females were given away to please the godhead and were supposed to have married the god himself. These females were known as 'muralis'. The major characters in the novel are the muralis namely Tulasa and Seeta, mother and daughter respectively. The title of the novel signified that although there is the mud of carnality around these muralis, in their hearts, they are clean, pure and chaste like a lotus rooted in mud and unclean waters.
