Summary: A film on the famous painter M.F. Husain, who is shown illustrating the epic of Ramayana. Husain has been working on this series for the past three years in the house of Badrivishal Pittie, his friend and patron in the city of Hyderabad. Husain's work represents a state where there is no dilemma of being torn between tradition and modernity. Maqbul Fida Husain was born in the town of Sholapur (Maharashtra). His grandfather was a tin-smith, his father a clerk. Husain's schooling ended early and attempts to encourage him to take up profession such as tailoring, failed. Training him as priest led to Husain's considerable interest in Islamic literature and calligraphy. He migrated to Bombay in 1937, at the age of 22. Here he travelled from painting film hoardings to attain great heights as India's leading painter.
