Summary: Chatterjee’s sequel to
Rajanigandha (1974) continues his middle-class love stories. This is a comic tale about a lovesick clerk, Arun Pradeep (Palekar), who is too shy to declare his love to Prabha (Sinha). He is coached in assertiveness by a bluff ex-officer (Kumar) and then succeeds, besting his cocky rival and winning the woman. The film intercuts this story with Arun’s fantasies and boasts one hit song,
Jaaneman jaaneman tere do nayan, sung by Yesudas and Asha Bhosle.
Song: Na jaane kyon hota hai yeh zindagi ke saath,
achaanak yeh Mann, kisike jaane ke baad
kare phir uski yaad chhoti chhoti si baat
