Summary: Sethumadhavan and Tamil star Laxmi’s best- known Hindi film is a remake of the director’s Malayalam hit Chattakkari (1974). The Anglo- Indian Julie (Laxmi) abandons her boyfriend to have an affair with Shashi (Vikram) and becomes pregnant, providing an excuse for several shots detailing the star’s body. She tries to contain the scandal by sending her son to a far-away place. The film claimed to address the attitudes of India’s Anglo-Indians but its major attraction, apart from the voyeurism, is Harindranath Chattopadhyay’s English song, My heart is beating, sung by Preeti Sagar.
