Summary: The poet Amit (Bachchan) loves Pooja (Raakhee) but she, under pressure from her parents, marries another (S. Kapoor). The resulting tensions between the two families are resolved only in the next generation: Pooja’s son (Rishi Kapoor) will choose the partner he prefers. According to the film, the object of his desire also chooses him. Remembered for Mukesh’s rendering of the title song Kabhi kabhie mere dil main khayal ata hai.
